The Pisa airport restaurant didn't have coffee.
We took a plane to Frankfurt.
Then we took the train to Kassel.
Homer Simpson donut I had for breakfast at the Kassel hotel.
First stop at dOCUMENTA in Kassel, Germany. Inside was a variety of artists, including Salvador Dali and Emily Carr. Joanna like Charlotte Salomon who made a play based on her life and some fictional events. I saw Lee Miller's photographs taken during the WWII of Hitler's apartment and objects from his study.
Yan Lei, a Chinese artist, filled a room full of paintings, some painted a solid colour and others with images from the internet that he liked. The idea is that this is his way of cataloguing his internet searches in a physical space. He only paints the images he likes or finds interesting, then when it's time to paint another image, he hires a car painter to completely cover the canvas in a new colour to start all over.
I like turquoise.
Beautiful building.
Not a dOCUMENTA sculpture, just a nice one.
Second night in Kassel, dinner at a German restaurant.
Everyone's pretty tired.
Tess and Irina.
The best schnitzel I've ever had!

A shot from a film where a woman played a flute discovered from thousands of years ago that was made out of a vulture's wing bone and a live vulture perched next to her was forced to listen.
Artists are weird.

Last night in Kassel, dinner together at the German restaurant.
Must have a German beer, while you're in Germany.
