Ravenna: Mosaics & Dante

Battistero degli Ariani ceiling.

Learning.

My favourite church so far, mix of Rococo style and Byzantine mosaics.

Hidden for his protection in a wall in the garden outside of the church where he had friends.  The white stone is a memorial of where Dante's bones were found after being hidden for years from various Popes and enemies from Florence.

Dante's grave.

Mausoleo di Galla Placidia.
These mosaics date back to 476 A.D. and building is used as a burial chamber.

The Emperor's wife, Theodora and her ladies in waiting.

Boboli Gardens

Finally, some fall leaves.

So happy to have real falafel!

Not happy to pose in front of the Abercrombie & Fitch models.

Joanna and I and the Eiffel Tower on top of the Arc.

Paris Day Four - Jewish Quarter

YES! Real breakfast!

This building on the left seemed to be bulging out.

Rachel and Joanna!
Thanks to Rachel we had great time in the Jewish Quarter, finding cheap places to eat and cool vintage shops!

Another macaroon place.

I should have bought it.

Choco Moos.

If only I had room in my bag.

Joanna's birthday dinner a day early.
So glad to have something other than Italian.

First time having pho...I do a lot for this girl.

Canadian drinks!

I had to order it.

Paris Day Three - Notre Dame & Eiffel Tower

Notre Dame!

Sunday Mass.

Hemingway use to having coffee here.

Famous for its macaroons.

Vanilla!

There was an installation out front of the Eiffel Tower with a bunch of bears decorated by recognized countries of the United Nations.  This was the Canada bear.

I wasn't allowed to take photos...

Mussels!
