Sneak Peek at my Thesis

"Taking Pictures of People Taking Pictures"

I decided to turn my camera on the tourists visiting Florence.  Focusing on the way they photograph their subject (their friends/family and/or the city's famous monuments), what they use to photograph (compact camera, SLR camera, iPhone, iPad, etc.) and how that changes the people's perception of these historically famed wonders of Florence.

Our Neighbour

This is our neighbour.
He watches the street for strangers and unwelcome dogs, keeping us safe.

La Spezia, Italy (Cinque de Terre)

La Spezia is the city on the coast of the Mediterranean, known for their naval base and scenic towns that scale the mountains along the water.

Fish Market.

Pizza vending machine anyone?

Picture of the city and the naval base with a couple of warships.

Our new friends.

Tess and the mountains.

Joanna, Kori, Megan, Tess, and I.

Our album cover.

THERE IS A DINER IN FLORENCE!

So our friend Kori found a diner in Florence, complete with pancakes, cheddar cheese, bacon, burgers, milkshakes, EVERYTHING!  So naturally we had to go there.

Tess, Kori, and Joanna.

Deb and I.

Lox.

My bacon cheeseburger I have long awaited for was absolute heaven.  Crispy bacon on top of tons of melted cheddar cheese over a giant burger!  Everything was fast, delicious, and amazing.

Lucca, Italy

Lucca is a small, quiet town with ancient walls about an hour and half away from Florence by train.

Joanna, Me, Tess, and Megan were in search of peace and quiet and greenery.

An ice cream truck I can actually catch!

Mmmm, fresh porchini mushrooms and prosciutto!
One of the best pizzas I've had so far!

Megan.

Tess.

Tess couldn't keep it together for the group shot.

Overall, a really relaxing day walking the quiet streets within the walls of Lucca.

The Quest for Pumpkin Pie

This was no easy task.  Italy does not have the same stock of baking supplies that I am used to.
Many times I became very discouraged and was ready to give up and let Italy win, but what Italy didn't take into consideration is how bad I wanted this pumpkin pie.  Below is documentation of the making of the pumpkin pie.

"Take That Italy"
Imported Pumpkin Pie filling: Special delivery from Bernie and Mimi.
Condensed Milk: Many hours of searching, but I eventually won.

"No Can Opener?  No Problem!"
Joanna bashed and I stabbed.

"Canadians are Made of Steel"

"I'm Not Sharing"
I allowed my sous chef Joanna to have a piece, but I worked too hard for this.
Sorry everyone.
